We operate on a philosophy of minimum viable governance.
As such we do not vote very often, yet we do need to maintain active
engagement from Voting Members. This rule is intended to encourage
regular attendance to progress all of our deliverables independent of
voting.
A Voting Member may request a voluntary "Leave of Absence" by notifying the TAC Chair in writing.
During this period, the member is not counted toward the quorum denominator. They may return to
Active status immediately upon notifying the Chair of their return.
Ideally, companies should name an alternate Voting Member to attend during the absence.

Can we get a little more clarity on how the attendance of an alternate TAC Voting member affects this rule.
For example, a voting TAC member could notify the chair for an extended duration. Would having an alternate voting member nullify this rule?

In general I'm supportive of this rule. Not being able to reach quorum for votes slows the pace of progress so we need to find ways to eliminate the drag

Thanks for the feedback. I added the sentence below to clarify.

Set basic communication expectations.
Clarify role of an alternate Voting Member follows same rules as the
original Voting Member.
