## Spike: functional language rewrite candidate
- Candidate scope for a first rewrite: `GitDetailsService` data-mapping methods (`mapRepositoriesToResponse`, `mapResponseToRepositories`, `mapIssuesToResponse`) because they are mostly pure data transformations.
- Scala: strongest FP ecosystem, but introduces a larger adoption curve and additional build/runtime complexity for this codebase.
- Kotlin: best incremental JVM fit (keeps Spring + Maven flow), supports functional patterns with minimal integration overhead.
- External languages (Rust, Go, Dart/Flutter, Python): viable only behind a service boundary; adds deployment, observability, and network overhead for this repository.
- Recommendation: run a Kotlin proof-of-concept for the `GitDetailsService` mapping layer first, then expand only if maintainability/testability improves.
