I have tried to import my Hellfire Multiplayer characters (saves are hrinfo.drv) to Devilutionx but they do not show up. Any reason why? My old diablo mp characters show up fine.

Hellfire was based on a version of Diablo between 1.04 and 1.05. Back then, Multiplayer characters were placed in a different folder and encrypted using the machine name they were created on. Because the encryption depends on the machine name, DevilutionX is fundamentally unable to decode these files unless it knows the name of the machine. Since vanilla Hellfire didn't officially support Multiplayer and DevilutionX doesn't know where the files came from, we simply removed the code that would attempt to get the machine name to decode the files. Therefore, DevilutionX is only compatible with Multiplayer save files from Diablo 1.09.

If you feel you have to have Multiplayer Hellfire save files converted to DevilutionX, it would have to be done manually with some tweaks to the source code. It would be a one-way conversion, which means you would not be able to take those converted save files back to vanilla Hellfire afterward, though you can always keep your original save files if you want. If you'd like to discuss how that can be done, I recommend joining our Discord server and asking there.

Actually, I am not sure I do have such skills. I tried to join the server but when it asked me to claim the account and entered my email and password, it said the account was already registered. Oh well.
