About The Pull Request

This PR adds new announcer sounds personally recorded and voiced by me, because what's in the codebase now just doesn't sound right. Though, I have gripes with my own voice but I'm sure people will think it sounds at least half a mile better.

(Also ran through optivorbis using meowvorbis)

Why It's Good For The Game

I would argue this is better because it sounds better.

But this doesnt fix with the thematic setting of CEV Eris being a junk heap with a barely functional announcement system. They're meant to be unintelligible like a old communist subway announcement!!

I think it was probably prompted by the default bay "Welcome to Space Station 13" sound played at round start, which also never matched thematically other than being incorrect.

Checked the announcer sounds. It can work, but it needs some post processing. At minimum you should reduce the Hz to ~11k (dictation quality)
Even better is if you add extra gain a few dbs above the peak to clip the louder tones, then clamp the dbs back
That way it'll sound even crunchier as if it was coming out of old loudspeakers.

I could run it through ChowTapeModel or DAWcassette for some crunchiness

Also it's already cut off at 11khz

good that the announcer is getting attention, but the new lines don't address the main issue with the announcer lines and why they needed replacing, that being that it still refers to Eris as a "Station" rather than Ship, that and the VA not matching the announcement text in general.

the ideal solution would probably be to dig up whatever ancient TTS program the original lines were recorded with and re run new lines, but that could be quite a headache to find, and using a new VA takes considerably less effort.

Yeah I was recording this and going insane on stream and i kinda glossed over that fact. I know it's a ship, I just said station because that's how it normally goes on ss13 servers. Also mycah reminded today lolll

Ill correct it later today!

I tried actually! I did like an hour of research after stream trying to find what TTS was originally used but I genuinely couldn't find it. Might ahve to hire some research guy lol

Had the same exact problem when trying to record my own lines, and people are quite unhelpful often regarding this in particular. Best response I ever got was "oh, it's just the Microsoft TTS". Okay, at what at what level of voice settings, it's obvious they were heavily edited. It's not practical to replace voice lines with adjacent replicas in most cases, especially troublesome for bot lines.
