The first major release of the PlanktoScope OS for 2025, and the first major release in the "Calico" release series (named after the calico clam _Macrocallista maculata_). This release migrates the base OS from RPi OS 11 (bullseye) to RPi OS 12 (bookworm), improves underlying support for Wi-Fi-based internet access, simplifies the Node-RED dashboard, and fixes various bugs and usability problems.

This release fixes various major problems with the PlanktoScope software which were identified in v2023.9.0 (especially the camera), switches the base OS from 32-bit to 64-bit (which nearly doubles the speed of the segmenter), and makes PlanktoScope-specific OS configuration files easier to upgrade in the future.

This release is the first in the "Sunray" series, named after the Sunray Venus clam. Future releases will continue to be in the Sunray series until a release which introduces big changes for users, at which point a new series name will be chosen.

Deadline for the beginning of the onboard test on Tara. We need to have at this point two planktoscope in an almost final version with the following elements on the hardware side: - Kamoer peristaltic pump - Fixed lens set - Camera HQ or not HQ - Ibidi flow cell or simple capillary tube - Hardened electronics (test of waterproofing spray) On the software side: - Automatic imaging workflow on starting of procedure - Automatic backup when connecting an external drive - Electronic logsheet - Fixed configuration of stable metadata (operator, vessel name, etc...)
