FastStream Community Code of Conduct

The FastStream community team consists of experts and volunteers who are working to create and develop an effective messaging system. We are guided by the principles of professionalism, mutual respect and responsibility towards the community, partners and users.

We have a few basic rules that we ask people to adhere to. This CoC applies to founders, maintainers, and those who seek help and guidance. It ensures uniformity of interactions across all FastStream community projects and initiatives, including issues, discussions, and pull requests. Accept this code as a guide that helps all participants enrich the technical communities in which we participate and maintains a high level of trust and security.

  • Be friendly and patient.
  • Be welcoming. We strive to be a community that welcomes and supports people of all technical skills.Be kind to others. Do not insult or put down other participants. Harassment and other exclusionary behavior aren't acceptable.
  • Be considerate. Your work will be used by other people, and you in turn will depend on the work of others. Any decision you take will affect users and colleagues, and you should take those consequences into account when making decisions.
  • Be respectful. Not all of us will agree all the time, but disagreement is no excuse for poor behavior and poor manners. It’s important to remember that a community where people feel uncomfortable or threatened is not a productive one. Members of the FastStream Community should be respectful when dealing with other members as well as with people outside the FastStream Community. When we disagree, try to understand why.  Different people have different perspectives on issues. Being unable to understand why someone holds a viewpoint doesn’t mean that they’re wrong. Don’t forget that it is human to err and blaming each other doesn’t get us anywhere. Instead, focus on helping to resolve issues and learning from mistakes.
  • Ask for help when unsure. Nobody is expected to be perfect in this community. Asking questions early avoids many problems later, so questions are encouraged, though they may be directed to the appropriate forum. Those who are asked should be responsive and helpful.
  • Aggression, discrimination, sending unwanted information (spam), and any other behavior that may distract attention are unacceptable.
