Add MEAN_DIAMETER to SPEC ID="SOOT" for example of Aerosol Deposition based on Verification case propane_flame_deposition.fds
Line 28: &SPEC ID = 'SOOT', AEROSOL=.TRUE.,MEAN_DIAMETER=1.E-6 /

@gjaeger Hi Gregor, please provide a short description of why this is needed and link any issues, etc., this relates to. Thanks!

For the simple example:

&HEAD CHID='PVC_complex_with_soot' /

&TIME T_END = 1 /
&MESH IJK=3,3,3, XB=0,1,0,1,0,1 /

&SPEC ID='PVC', FORMULA='C2H3Cl' /
&SPEC ID='OXYGEN', LUMPED_COMPONENT_ONLY=T /
&SPEC ID='NITROGEN', LUMPED_COMPONENT_ONLY=T /
&SPEC ID='HYDROGEN CHLORIDE', LUMPED_COMPONENT_ONLY=T /
&SPEC ID='WATER VAPOR', LUMPED_COMPONENT_ONLY=T /
&SPEC ID='CARBON MONOXIDE', LUMPED_COMPONENT_ONLY=T /
&SPEC ID='CARBON DIOXIDE', LUMPED_COMPONENT_ONLY=T /
&SPEC ID='SOOT', AEROSOL=T /
&SPEC ID='AIR', BACKGROUND=T, SPEC_ID='OXYGEN','NITROGEN','WATER VAPOR','CARBON DIOXIDE', VOLUME_FRACTION=0.2075588106270111,0.7825727400677244,0.00948203748548032,0.0003864118197842852 /
&SPEC ID='PRODUCTS',
SPEC_ID(1)='HYDROGEN CHLORIDE', VOLUME_FRACTION(1)=0.11155287824074092,
SPEC_ID(2)='CARBON DIOXIDE', VOLUME_FRACTION(2)=0.10790254438924088,
SPEC_ID(3)='WATER VAPOR', VOLUME_FRACTION(3)=0.11937394885512631,
SPEC_ID(4)='CARBON MONOXIDE', VOLUME_FRACTION(4)=0.01568102036526651,
SPEC_ID(5)='NITROGEN', VOLUME_FRACTION(5)=0.6454896081496253 /
&REAC FUEL='PVC', HEAT_OF_COMBUSTION=10293, SPEC_ID_NU='PVC','AIR','PRODUCTS','SOOT', NU=-1,-7.394073424768111,8.964358569412365,0.895009769622087 /

with version 6.10.1, I receive the following error message:

ERROR(158): SPEC SOOT, No MEAN_DIAMETER given. (CHID: PVC_complex_with_soot)

ERROR: FDS was improperly set-up - FDS stopped (CHID: PVC_complex_with_soot)

With
&SPEC ID = 'SOOT', AEROSOL=.TRUE.,MEAN_DIAMETER=1.E-6 /
I don't get an error message.

Therefore, I suggest the addition of the example. In my opinion, this is consistent with the second sentence in this section in
Line 5663:
The aerosol deposition model is invoked by defining a species with the parameter \ct{AEROSOL=T} on the \ct{SPEC} line along with the parameters \ct{DENSITY_SOLID}, \ct{CONDUCTIVITY_SOLID}, and \ct{MEAN_DIAMETER}. ...

At one point we had a default MEAN_DIAMETER but got rid of that as part of the general trend to avoid default values other than really basic things like the atmosphere. This must be an example that isn't an actual Verification case.

The verification case propane_flame_deposition.fds is in Aerosols and has the correct inputs. This just did not make it into the user guide.
