FooDee provides recommendations for healthy food choices tailored to specific diseases.
The database was created by merging data from the following sources:
- Small Molecule Pathway Database (SMPDB)
- Food Database (FooDB)
- Entrez Gene
- NCBI dbSNP
- OMIM Disease Data
FooDee offers five main functions:
- Find Compounds Related to a Disease
- Recommend Healthy Food Specific to a Disease
- Discover Health Effects of a Compound
- Get a List of Food Containing a Specific Compound
- Get Compound Descriptions
Some compounds or foods may not play a significant role in the drug-action pathway of a disease. Foods listed in the recommendations should be consumed with careful consideration. FooDee is intended to be an informative starting point for understanding the association between specific compounds and diseases, as well as identifying corresponding food sources.
