At the heart of the green revolution, electric mobility is fundamental for a sustainable future. But how can we measure the progress and adoption of this crucial technology? The answer lies in data.
Many datasets, while rich in information, do not reach the highest quality level according to the "5-star" standard. These lower-level data require accurate transformations to be truly useful and accessible.

The three datasets used to build the knowledge base are:
-
Renewable Energy Production by Region in 2022: Originally published as a statistical report in PDF format, this dataset provides data on renewable energy production, broken down by region. The data source is terna.it. No license is specified for this publication.
-
Electric Vehicle Charging Point Network: This dataset provides information on the distribution and availability of electric vehicle charging stations in Italy.
-
Vehicle Registrations by Province in 2023: This dataset classifies vehicle registrations into two main categories: Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HYBRID). The data is broken down by province.
The source for the latter two datasets is Piattaforma unica nazionale. The publication methods render the data released by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE)—responsible for the project—rather unhelpful. At the end of March, MASE published the charging station map in collaboration with the Energy Services Manager (GSE).
The extraction and transformation into CSV format were carried out by the onData association and are released under the CC-BY-4.0 license.
