Can't type in editor after error

Issue description

Editor freezes when there is invalid character.

Steps to reproduce

When I type the accent button ( ´ ) by mistake the editor freezes and does not allow further typing.

Report this to Ubuntu (again), or use a more recent version if they don't fix it in their LTS
