This repository contains replication code for "Toxic Neighborhoods: The Effects of Concentrated Poverty and Environmental Lead Contamination on Early Childhood Development."
The data on which it is based are restricted-access and can only be obtained under special contractual arrangements that preclude their dissemination by the authors.
Researchers interested in obtaining these data may follow the procedures outlined at
https://www.icpsr.umich.edu/web/pages/ICPSR/access/restricted/index.html for the PHDCN;
https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/depts/cdph/provdrs/health_data_and_reports.html for the BLL surveillance data; and
https://geolytics.com for tract-level sociodemographics from the Neighborhood Change Database.
The files used from these sources are documented within the replication code.
Once these data files have been obtained, the user will need to:
1. install the Stata and R packages documented in the _RPACKS and _STATAMODS folders
2. appropriately update the directory paths in all Stata do files and R scripts
3. run _master_do_file.do
