I don't believe this is correct, if someone is more advanced they may prefer to just use git, and in the event that Github desktop doesn't work it could easily be because they installed it wrong due to a lack of experience and then definitely shouldn't start on git yet.

I was doing it myself and accidentally did both options instead of just one.
