@znichollscr @jkikstra: This is a PR to smooth out the LN extension in the fossil bit. (I also took the opportunity to fix the plotting notebook as I used it to compare results.)

We can discuss whether we actually want to merge this in or no, depending on how much hassle for improvement it provides

Possibly for here, possibly for elsewhere, we might want to address the dependabot-flagged vulnerabilitie
