We haven't updated it in over 6 years, and the QWebChannel object has undergone many changes. This helps us stay consistent with the upstream version and avoid unforeseen incompatibility bugs. I also carefully examined the implementation of the objects in qwebchannel.js and our initialization and calling code; it is designed for good compatibility and is currently being called correctly. It has been tested and appears harmless.
