Verify SDR Range

You can try a test signal sweep around 1694 MHz using rtl_power:

rtl_power -f 1693000000:1695000000:1000 -g 42 -i 10 -e 2m output.csv

rtl_power -f 1693000000:1695000000:1k -g 42 -i 5 -e 1m output.csv

Example

root@goes-receiver:~# rtl_power -f 1693000000:1695000000:1000 -g 42 -i 10 -e 2m output.csv

Test RTL-SDR independently to verify gain setting works

To make sure it's not an RTL-SDR issue, you can use rtl_test:

rtl_test -t

Example

root@goes-receiver:~# rtl_test -t

  0: Nooelec, SMArTee XTR v5, SN: 00000001
