I'm giving this some thought. I can see the convenience of having the grid stay up at the end of loops, but with this change it's not really a "flash" method anymore, it's "show" with the output cleared first. But maybe that's okay? Or maybe it would make sense to add a |

It will make everybody's life slightly easier if we call clear_output first instead of last when flashing.
