v0.3.0 [2026-03-16]

Release v0.3.0 of Open Backup UI introduces comprehensive Job Creation Wizards for all major workload types, critical fixes to Dashboard Caching, and support for Quick Backups.

Highlights

  • Job Creation: Intuitive UI flows for creating vSphere, Hyper-V, Entra ID (Tenant/Audit), and Backup Copy Jobs.
  • Immediate Backup Copies: Successfully configure and start immediate Backup Copy Sync operations straight from the UI.

Job Creation Restructure (New)

vSphere & Hyper-V Backup Wizards

  • Validation: Real-time job name validation against existing jobs via Public API.
  • Guest Processing: Application-aware processing UI toggles.
  • Scheduling: Granular daily, monthly, and periodic scheduling options.

Backup Copy Job Flow

  • Source Selection: Intelligently filters and displays only valid primary backup jobs.
  • Target Selection: GFS (Grandfather-Father-Son) archival retention toggles.
  • Immediate Sync: Automatically sends the syncRestorePoints start payload when initiated.

Microsoft Entra ID Backup

  • Differentiated flows depending on whether the user is securing Microsoft Entra ID Tenants or Audit Logs.

Inventory & Infrastructure Improvements

Quick Backup Action

  • Relaxed strict URN visibility checks in the Inventory table so the Quick Backup action reliably appears for all standard vSphere VMs.
  • Perfectly aligned with Veeam API 1.3-rev1 strict parameter requirements.

Technical Changes

API & Payload Updates

  • POST /api/veeam/jobs - Universal API proxy endpoint for creating new jobs.
  • /api/v1/jobs/quickBackup/vSphere updated to explicitly use the 1.3-rev1 header specification.
  • veeamApi.startJob modified to support dynamic JSON payloads.

Notes

  • API Version Compatibility: Some features introduced in v0.3.0 (like Quick Backup) strictly rely on the Veeam 1.3-rev1 API specification. We recommend ensuring your Veeam Backup & Replication server is updated to natively support this version.
