The method for generating shell completions was updated in db71f3b#diff-b2812f19576dd53d0c35b107a322f58a00fce6977f4b5976e1961853982af3ccL27, so if you’re not installing the main branch from source, the readme currently doesn’t apply.
Most packages that I’m aware of (homebrew and nix mostly) already include shell completions without having to manually install them though, so if you’re on the latest tagged release from a package, you’ll most likely not need the readme anyway
