This is just a suggestion on how to implement the pointy ends. Suggested as a draft.
It removes the cbar axis box and the clipping to allow for the triangle extensions to show outside of the cbar axis.
I did this quickly as a test and with my editor (VSCode) I inadvertently reformatted one file which removed a lot of white spaces... Sorry about that!
