Greatly improves the visibility of the active element's highlight against dark backgrounds by adding a colored highlight area to the overlay SVG (positioned at the "hole" over the active element).
Adds two new config options - highlightColor and highlightOpacity. If highlightColor isn't set then the highlight area won't be created.
