Correct the documentation to reflect that on Windows the XDG configuration path is checked, however, it's effectively redundant unless the environment variable is set and not pointing to
%APPDATA%. This is an uncommon but valid configuration. Also slightly expands on the default XDG configuration path for both Unix-like and Windows platforms for clarity.
