Summary

Upgrades Electron to 40.9.2 (changes from v40.8.3).

Testing

Linux (Fedora 43 + GNOME)

With a release build of Joplin (AppImage):

  • Print to PDF works.
  • It's possible to print an embedded PDF to file from the PDF viewer.
  • It's possible to open a note in a new window and edit it.
  • It's possible to edit a note in an external editor.
  • It's possible to create a backup using the :CreateBackup command (the "backup completed" dialog is shown).
  • It's possible to edit a note in the Rich Text Editor.
  • Switching the OS theme to dark also switches the Joplin theme.
  • It's possible to right-click > export a note as PDF.
  • An alarm set on a to-do note shows a notification at the set time.
  • Spellcheck: Works in the Markdown editor and Rich Text Editor
    • Note: Does not work in dev mode, but this does not seem to be a regression.
  • The Orca screen reader can read/interact with the main Joplin window.

Windows 11

With a release build of Joplin:

  • Print to PDF works.
  • The NVDA screen reader can read the content of the Joplin window.
  • It's possible to print an embedded PDF to file from the PDF viewer.
  • It's possible to open a note in a new window and edit it.
  • It's possible to edit a note in an external editor.
  • It's possible to create a backup using the :CreateBackup command (the "backup completed" dialog is shown).
  • It's possible to edit a note in the Rich Text Editor.
  • It's possible to right-click > export a note as PDF.
  • An alarm set on a to-do note shows a notification at the set time.
  • Spellcheck: Works in the Markdown editor and Rich Text Editor

MacOS (x86_64)

With a release build of Joplin:

  • A sync with Joplin Cloud completes successfully.
  • File > print can be used to print to PDF.
  • It's possible to right-click > export a note as PDF.
  • An alarm set on a to-do note shows a notification at the set time.
  • Spellcheck works in the Markdown and Rich Text editors.
  • VoiceOver can read and interact with content in the main app window.
