First Setup Guide
It is recommended to have a remote file storage, i.e. a cloud storage. For example DropBox and GMX both offer 2 GB on their free plans which is more than enough for what Syncher needs (approximately 1 MB). Alternatively you can choose any file location to sync with but synchronization between devices will only work if these devices have regular access to the same location.
Depending on what you use there are lots of different ways to set up the remote file storage on your machine. If you use DropBox or Mega for example you can simply download their apps from Flathub and follow the configuration there to setup the cloud storage. For WebDav (e.g. GMX) or similar most modern File managers will allow you to connect to them using your credentials. However it is also recommended to setup a systemd automount so that you don't have to manually connect again every time you restart your device.
On first launch of Syncher you will be greeted by a welcome screen:
//TODO:Screenshot of welcome screen
Here you can select the synchronization location. Depending on what provider you use there are different things to do here.
For (TODO: idk lookup common ones but definitely WebDav) WebDav, X, Y and Z:
Select the corresponding entry from the drop down: // Screenshot
For Mega (TODO: same as above), A, B and C:
Select custom location and choose the folder that is being synchronized with your cloud storage: //Screenshot select custom location //Screenshot file chooser
After you have selected your synchronization location click next. On this page you can select which items should be synchronized for this specific device.

Settings: These are your settings. Depending on what apps and desktop environment you use this will support most or very few settings. On GNOME and everything GNOME based like Pantheon this will support almost all desktop settings like which theme to use, default apps etc. and most native application settings.
(For interested: it backs up all DConf keys) -
Applications: This will synchronize all Flatpak applications. However it will never uninstall them.
After you click next you will receive some more information and warnings about Syncher. For a more detailed overview of what Syncher does and doesn't do click here.
Now you can click Start synchronizing. You will see a progress screen displaying progress about the first synchronization. Depending on whether this is the first time you setup Syncher on a device this will export or import your configuration. After the first synchronization has completed Syncher will automatically synchronize every hour. Syncher will automatically start when you log in and synchronize even while running in the background. This means you can safely close any open window and Syncher will continue to keep your configuration up to date.
