To maintain the code coverage, and document this behaviour, I would suggest creating a new test for that specific case.
Check the file https://github.com/makism/dyconnmap/blob/master/tests/test_chronnectomics.py.

This simply adds the symbol to the list of symbols that is returned, but assigns dwell time of 0
