Related to PR #85.
Runs a function for the given object and sets the result on the object.
I did a couple of things different from the original PR. I made the default value optional. If it's provided, it's passed to
objectPath.get. I also removed the modifyDefault parameter, as I wasn't super sure what it was used for.
