A standalone macOS application that turns your MacBook into an offline security camera. It monitors your webcam, detects motion using the Vision framework, and records compressed .mov videos directly to your Documents folder.
- Offline Surveillance: No internet required, no cloud storage, full privacy.
- Lock-Screen Support: Continues to run even when the computer is locked or the screen is off.
- Vision-based Motion Detection: Uses Apple's Vision framework to trigger recordings.
- Auto-Extension Logic: Records in 60-second loops; if motion continues, the recording timer resets to ensure nothing is missed.
- H.264 Compression: High-quality video with efficient storage.
- Customizable Settings: Adjust sensitivity, cooldown periods, and video quality.
- Clone the repository.
- Ensure you have Swift installed (Xcode command line tools).
- Run the build script:
./build.sh
- Open
WebcamSecurity.app.
You can download the pre-built application from the Releases page.
This app accesses your camera and saves files locally to ~/Documents/WebcamSecurity. It does not transmit any data over the network.
