This is great, thanks @ddundo! Nice to have a demo that so clearly demonstrates why anisotropic mesh adaptation can be useful. I've not been able to test it yet because my local Firedrake is broken but am currently rebuilding.

Couple of syntax errors but otherwise renders nicely.

There is something wrong with a colorbar in the second figure and I'm trying to figure it out... Will merge asap :) |

Will follow this up with a PR in docs to add the demo to the table of contents and the bibtex reference.
