This class taught us the fundamental principles of information visualization and has helped me gain skills in creating data visualizations using R. Topics in this course have included visualizing patterns over time, data selection and cleaning, and visualizing for exploratory data analysis, especially looking for relationships and differences among variables.
On completion of the course, I can:
- Gain an understanding of basic data visualization techniques.
- Understand how to design and convey quantitative information meaningfully with visualizations.
- Be able to identify the appropriate visualization tools for a given dataset and problem.
- Gain skills in communication.
- Gain an understanding of time series data.
- Understand how to convey statistical relationships through visualizations effectively.
- Become proficient in visualization languages (R language).
