title: "Mixxx 25th Anniversary Artist T-Shirts"
authors: Daniel Schürmann
tags: merch, t-shirt, art, designer
status: draft
comments: yes

This year we celebrate the 25th anniversary of Mixxx. Musicians, designers, and developers have worked together to build software for digital DJing that holds its own against commercial alternatives. We all believe that professional DJ software should be free for everyone.

To celebrate, we did something special. We reached out to two artists who love Mixxx, and they didn't hesitate to create unique designs for our anniversary. The result is art you can wear, not a boring T-shirt with just a company logo.

We also selected high-quality, sustainable and fair produced T-shirts, so you can show your love for DJ culture, art, and open source with a clear conscience.
Exclusive for our Indian users, we partner with a local supplier who handles every step, from thread to packaging, under one roof. This integrated production ensures consistent high quality, minimal carbon emissions, and an extra attractive price.

## Dr. Walker – Three-Armed Monster

<img align="right" width="350" style="margin:10px 15px 0px 0px" src="{static}/images/news/dr_walker_web.jpg" alt="dr walker pr nix zu sehen hier">

When we approached [Dr. Walker](http://instagram.com/dr_walker_liquid_sky) and [Liquid Sky Artistcollective](https://www.liquidskyartistcollective.com/) with the idea, their entire reply was simply: "Klar. Wir machen gern ein T-Shirt für euch." ("Sure. We'd love to make a T-shirt for you.") That enthusiasm perfectly reflects a relationship that started long before this anniversary.

Dr. Walker is an artist, musician, and electronic music producer who has had a major influence on the underground techno scene in Germany, particularly in Cologne (Köln). He is a co-founder of the legendary [Kompakt](https://kompakt.fm/) record label. He is also a co-inventor of the outstanding Zen Delay, a popular effects box used live on stage by many electronic musicians. If you have ever played a minimal techno track or used a hardware delay to make your transitions sound spacey, you are enjoying the culture Dr. Walker helped build.
Last year, he chose to include Mixxx on a USB stick for digital performers, introducing the software to a new audience and offering to promote the project through his own community. This artwork continues that connection, a design created by someone who truly appreciates creative open-source tools and the culture surrounding them.

## Ferry Gouw – Speaker Titan

<img align="left" width="250" style="margin:10px 15px 0px 0px" src="{static}/images/news/FerryGouwWeb.jpg" alt="Picture of Ferry Gouw">

The collaboration with [Ferry Gouw](http://www.ferrygouw.com/) began where all great DJ stories start: digging through our own music libraries for inspiration. We realized that Ferry created the cover art for [Major Lazer](https://www.discogs.com/de/master/805057-Major-Lazer-x-DJ-Snake-Feat-M%C3%98-Lean-On), illustrating some of the biggest hits in dance music history, records that are probably sitting in the crates of thousands of Mixxx users worldwide. While many EDM releases at that time had minimalist logos or artist photos, Ferry's work stood out with crowded, colorful illustrations.

Ferry is an illustrator, graphic designer and art director based in London. He created the artwork for [Paul McCartney's Egypt Station](https://www.discogs.com/de/master/1418458-Paul-McCartney-Egypt-Station) album and the Major Lazer animated television series, directed music videos, and created designs across music, fashion, and contemporary illustration. Ferry was also the guitarist and vocalist in Semifinalists, an indie band.
He immediately connected with Mixxx's mission. His response said it all: "I love what you do and the fact that it's open source. I have some ideas brewing already."
The result is an illustration of a fantasy creature that expresses the energy DJs bring to the floor build of DJ gear that comes alive.
