Navet - Branding Guide

Name & Meaning

Navet (pronounced "NAH-vet") is Swedish for "the hub" – the definite form of nav, which means:

  1. The hub - The center of a wheel
  2. The pivot point - The central axis around which things rotate
  3. The center of activity - A central hub in a system (figurative use)

Why Navet?

The name perfectly captures what this application does: it serves as the central hub for your smart home, bringing all your devices, automations, and controls into one unified interface. Just as a wheel's hub connects all the spokes, Navet connects all your smart home systems.

Logo Concept

The logo represents "the hub" concept with:

  • Center node - Your smart home (Navet)
  • 8 radiating connections - Your connected devices
  • Network pattern - Interconnected system
  • Orange gradient - Warm, welcoming, energetic

Logo Guidelines

Do's ✅

  • Use the orange gradient versions on neutral backgrounds
  • Maintain minimum size of 32px for favicon, 60px for full logo
  • Keep clear space around logo (minimum 10% of logo size)
  • Use SVG format when possible for crisp rendering

Don'ts ❌

  • Don't change the logo colors or gradient
  • Don't rotate, distort, or alter the logo proportions
  • Don't add effects, shadows, or outlines
  • Don't place logo on busy backgrounds that reduce clarity

Usage Guidelines

  • Refer to the app as "Navet" (capitalized)
  • Use "smart home" or "smart home system" instead of specific platform names
  • Emphasize the hub/centralization concept

  • Don't write "navet" in lowercase (except in code/URLs)
  • Don't use "Home Assistant Dashboard" anymore
  • Don't over-explain the Swedish origin (mention it once if relevant)
