Context

we had the terrible idea of maintaing v1 and v2 on the same branch
however, this proved unattainable after going down the v2 hardening path and we failed miserably
we should maintain the existing v1 branch since its near complete

Technical

should be able to just drop whatever the v2 commits are
update the github actions to also protoect nimv1 branch

Asides

there may be additional learnings on v2 (e.g. experimental views) that should also exist on nimv1


          remove v2 dir
