I use Finale’s continuous recognition feature on an iPad to scrobble music playing in the room. It works well while the app is open, but recognition stops as soon as the screen locks or the iPad goes to sleep.
Would it be possible to support continuous recognition while the screen is off, using iOS/iPadOS background audio or microphone capabilities? AirScrobble offers similar locked-screen recognition, so it appears to be technically possible.
This would be especially useful for leaving an iPad near a stereo for longer listening sessions without keeping the display on. An optional setting, with a warning about battery usage, would be completely reasonable.
Thanks for considering it, and thanks for making Finale available for free.
