A full-stack discussion platform inspired by Stack Overflow where users can ask questions, post answers, upvote content, and manage discussions. The application is containerized using Docker and deployed on AWS EC2 with automated CI/CD using GitHub Actions.

⚙️ Getting Started

Clone Repository

git clone https://github.com/nsrathour/Discussion-App.git

cd Discussion-App

Environment Variables

Create a .env file inside the backend folder.

PORT=5000
MONGO_URI=your_mongodb_uri
JWT_SECRET=your_secret

Run Locally

Backend

cd backend
npm install
npm start

Frontend

cd client
npm install
npm run dev

🐳 Run with Docker

docker compose up --build

To stop containers:

docker compose down

🚀 Deployment

The application is deployed on AWS EC2 using Docker and Nginx.

• Docker containers run the frontend and backend.
• Nginx acts as a reverse proxy.
• MongoDB Atlas stores application data.
• GitHub Actions automatically deploys every push to the main branch.
