CHANGES: - update wrt to R 4.5 and 4.6, which further restrict access to R internals. A few (unused) functions had to be removed - a few portability/install fixes

This fails on a number of distributions (I think due to a too-old version of R) and on macos. Not sure if you plan to support the latter (I don't remember if it used to work). If it is ok with you, I would suggest to merge this since in most cases the first fix is to update conf-r-mathlib, those failures are not new and this can be done separately |
