I'm not smart enough to figure out how to tell flipping gradle how to use java 17 to compile tests. 🤷🏻 😡

@breedx-splk the project builds with JDK 21, but targets compatibility back to 11. This bumped dependency only seems to support 17 and higher.

I think this dependency is only used in the testing module. That module isn't actually used in the project anywhere and was originally intended to make life easier for migrating tests on opentelemetry-android at the point where it adopts this library. Tbh, I'd be in favour of removing that module as there's not much code and we can always add it back in when we reach that point...
