Merge duplicate CSV tag rows for the same variable
When the CSV contains multiple rows for the same catalogPath with different grapherTags, this continue path keeps only the first row’s tags and silently drops the rest, so affected variables remain partially untagged after this commit. I verified this against the committed outputs: for example grapher/un/2024-07-12/un_wpp/deaths#deaths__sex_all__age_all__variant_estimates is missing Causes of Death and Global Health, and grapher/fasttrack/latest/antimicrobial_usage_livestock/...#livestock_antimicrobial_usage_mgpcu is missing Antibiotics & Antibiotic Resistance. The update logic should union tags across duplicate rows instead of skipping once topic_tags is set.

@ikesau heads up, in case you are not aware, you can define topic tags at 'dataset level'. so, if the same tags apply to all indicators (maybe for covid datasets), you just define it once. basically, need to edit Optionally, you can also do this at table-level, just use Leaving this option here, in case you want to feed this into claude. hi @ikesau! Do these tags need to match to a topic page tag or are any tags existing in our grapher database okay? ps. I am trying to finish up several things that probably take priority over this before I am off for holidays next Thursday and this is quite a lot for me to review on my own so I am not sure if I'll get around to it. I'll ping someone else next week if I can't finish this myself. |
I gave the
tagless-datapages.csvfile to Claude and told it the issue and it wrote a script to update the metadata yml files where appropriate.I haven't validated its work yet. Will do so once this staging site deploys.
