While I support getting functionality out of Translator, prog1/progn with an extra parenthesis seems very inconvenient.

I thought we talked about that already. It is consistent with how MeTTa does stuff. If you want to get rid of the parenthesis i am all for it but then we should not stop with prog1/progn but continue with case , let* , |-> all of which have extra parenthesis that we don't need.

Users can already use first/last if they prefer to get the first or last element from a list. And if they prefer it without parentheses they can use prog1/progn. I don't see a need to remove that feature as it is convenient while people are already used to having parentheses around let*/case etc.
