This allows the output to send the long query received from max_duration to nagios. This option gives more information and verbosity other than just the time it took to run, ID and user@host.

I may be missing something but perhaps you can help me see how to better implement this in your script. I may need if/else on lines 152-157 to add/ignore $QUERY variable. This helps address my feature request - #69
