Sync merge: brings 9.7 history into trunk ancestry. All 9.7 changes are already present in trunk (per-branch PRs; PXC-5223's sbom components lines match trunk's own sbom commits) - verified zero content delta (the merge changes no lines). After this lands, 9.7-based merges into trunk stop re-listing old 9.7 commits.
Note: builds on the 8.4->9.7 null merge #1791; merging that first keeps this one minimal.
