hello-world

This is my first git repository, and I'm making it as part of a tutorial for the same.

Ok, I'm supposed to write a bit about myself...

I'm Phil, I was a postdoc in evodevo biology working on photoreceptor cell evolution for nearly 7 years, and used single cell RNAseq as a big part of my work. I used to be exclusively wetlab, but managed to learn a lot of the bioinformatics work I needed to do for my projects. I am comfortable in R and commandline-based programs, and can occassionally poke at some Python code from collaborators until it works in the way that I need it to (thank you internet for always being there to help me with that!)

I'm going to start some structured mini-projects just for myself, because I want to check out and feel comfortable with basic fully-bioinformatic workflows that will hopefully become part of common tasks I do in an industrial setting.

Wish me luck on my Git adventures!
