Which TiDB version(s) do your changes apply to? (Required)

Tips for choosing the affected version(s):

By default, CHOOSE MASTER ONLY so your changes will be applied to the next TiDB major or minor releases. If your PR involves a product feature behavior change or a compatibility change, CHOOSE THE AFFECTED RELEASE BRANCH(ES) AND MASTER.

For details, see tips for choosing the affected versions.

  • master (the latest development version)
  • v9.0 (TiDB 9.0 versions)
  • v8.5 (TiDB 8.5 versions)
  • v8.4 (TiDB 8.4 versions)
  • v8.3 (TiDB 8.3 versions)
  • v8.1 (TiDB 8.1 versions)
  • v7.5 (TiDB 7.5 versions)
  • v7.1 (TiDB 7.1 versions)
  • v6.5 (TiDB 6.5 versions)
  • v6.1 (TiDB 6.1 versions)
  • v5.4 (TiDB 5.4 versions)

What is the related PR or file link(s)?

Do your changes match any of the following descriptions?

  • Delete files
  • Change aliases
  • Need modification after applied to another branch
  • Might cause conflicts after applied to another branch

Code Review

This pull request refines the TiFlash FAQ and configuration documentation. The changes include adding information about adjusting remove-peer restrictions, updating the memory usage limit description, reorganizing the multi-disk deployment section, and troubleshooting steps for unavailable replicas. Overall, the changes aim to improve the clarity, accuracy, and completeness of the documentation.

Summary of Findings

  • Inconsistent terminology: The phrase 'system CPU supports vector extension instruction sets' could be reworded for better clarity and consistency with other documentation.
  • Clarity and simplicity: The documentation could benefit from more concise and direct language, especially in the troubleshooting sections.
  • Completeness and readability: The reorganization of the multi-disk deployment section improves readability, but ensuring all relevant information is easily accessible is crucial.

Merge Readiness

The pull request includes several helpful refinements to the TiFlash documentation. However, some areas could benefit from improved clarity and consistency. Addressing the identified issues would enhance the documentation's overall quality and user experience. I am unable to approve this pull request, and recommend that another reviewer also reviews this code before merging.

Code Review

The pull request refines the TiFlash FAQ and configuration documentation, adding useful troubleshooting steps and clarifying configuration options. The changes are well-organized and address relevant issues. However, there are a few areas where the language could be more precise and consistent, and some instructions could be clearer.

Summary of Findings

  • Inconsistent terminology: The documentation uses both 'Linux AMD64 architecture' and 'Linux ARM64 architecture' in some places, and 'Linux AMD64 architecture' and 'Linux ARM64 architecture' in others. It would be better to pick one and stick to it for consistency.[^1]
  • Unclear step instructions: In the 'TiFlash replica is always unavailable' section, the instructions could be more direct and easier to follow. Consider rephrasing for clarity.[^1]
  • Incomplete sentence: In the 'Data is not replicated to TiFlash' section, there's an incomplete sentence that needs to be completed or removed.[^1]

Merge Readiness

The pull request is almost ready for merging. Addressing the identified issues, particularly those related to clarity and consistency, would further improve the documentation. I am unable to approve this pull request, and recommend that others review and approve this code before merging. I recommend that the pull request not be merged until the high severity issues are addressed.
