They are locked by default like regular chests

copper chests created as part of spawning a copper golem aren't autoprotected because currently the only way to do that would be listening to carved pumpkins being placed and checking if a copper block is below it and then next tick or something check if it turned into a copper chest and then lock it. but that sounds like a lot of work so maybe they'll add an event for it. |
