Folding the plugin registrations from the standalone manifest.cpp translation unit into the main library's sources (deleting the separate point_cloud_transport_plugins target and re-pointing default_plugins.xml) cut the clean build from a median of 29.2 s to 26.1 s (~3.1 s, 11%), with all 213 tests passing and runtime plugin discovery verified.
