Details
TypeScript does not follow semver; any version bump can introduce changes that cause code to fail type checking. As a library, we want to avoid unexpected errors due to our version of TypeScript not matching that of our users. As such, we only change our version during a major release.
Because we rarely do major releases, I opted to jump to TypeScript v6, even though it's only a preview release at the moment. It's just our local dev version, and I don't anticipate there being any major changes that would somehow break our users when we switch to the full release.
