Azimuth annotation gene names and synonyms

Hi! I am curious if the Seurat Azimuth wrapper accounts for gene name synonyms that we might have in our count matrix. If not, how can I validate that the Azimuth reference is compatible with my Seurat object? Is there an easier way than to copy-paste gene names from Azimuth reference website and see if they are in my matrix?
