Setup on Windows(x64)

Just the code: Look after the steps if you need more details.

(1) Install chocolatey:

@powershell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy unrestricted -Command "iex ((new-object net.webclient).DownloadString('https://chocolatey.org/install.ps1'))" && SET PATH=%PATH%;%systemdrive%\chocolatey\bin

(2) Install the 7-zip command line tools (needed for mysql):

cinst 7zip.commandline

(3) Install github using chocolatey (to pull the code later):

cinst GitHub

(4) Install ruby using chocolatey:

cinst ruby

(5) Install the ruby devkit using chocolatey:

cinst ruby.devkit

Now modify config.yml to include your ruby path. It should be present in C:\devkit if you used the default install location. Now you need to run these two again: ruby dk.rb init ruby dk.rb install

I don't know why, but somehow even though the chocolatey installer does call these two commands: cd $devKitInstallDir & ruby dk.rb init & ruby dk.rb install --force The environment variables aren't getting updated without running it a second time.

(6) Database installation - Coming soon

Install rake and hoe gem install rake-compiler gem install hoe This was necessary for bluecloth. Now that we are using kramdown, we don't need it.

Install the V8 engine - This version is the current latest version gem install libv8 -v '3.16.14.3' -- --with-system-v8 This was necessary for therubyracer. We don't need that now.

kgio does not run on Windows, and unicorn needs it. So you can use the default WEBrick server that comes with Rails.
