Hi there 👋

My name is Shazia Ruybal Pesántez and I am a genomic epidemiologist currently based in Barcelona 🇪🇸

My research focus and interests:

  • 🤝 applied ("field") epidemiology
  • 🧬 genomic epidemiology and population genetics
  • 🔍 pathogen surveillance
  • 👩‍🔬infectious diseases, mainly malaria and other vector-borne diseases 🦟 and more recently COVID-19 🦠
  • 📈 data analytics and digital tools
  • 👩‍🏫 capacity-building and teaching
