**Zach's Meta-Reflection**

Over the course of this semester, I attended three meetups. Two of these were at SplatSpace in Durham, and one was TriPython in Carrboro.
I think that my choice of meetups was a good one in the sense that it allowed me to experience two distinctly different types. The former was
composed largely of hobbyists, whereas the latter was fairly professional in nature.

SplatSpace has its own dedicated rooms in the basement of a hotel in downtown Durham. They take advantage of their space, storing all manner of technology
down there. 3D printers, electronic components, metalworking and woodworking tools, et cetera. They have a very diverse community of technologically minded
people, including but not predominated by professional programmers. One can buy membership in the group, which yields a key to their space and voting
privileges. People seem more invested in this organization as as a result of its arrangement.

TriPython's Carrboro meeting space is in an office park. Most, if not all in attendance are professionals who use Python as part of their jobs.
I do like the fact that they all had Python knowledge. It was an awkward environment for a non-member to visit, though, as I believe Libby Livingston
noted. An extroverted older gentleman managed to increase the mingling after a while by starting introductions, but it was nonetheless not the best
place for a n00b like myself to be.

The ideal meetup group for me at this point would be one that is somewhere in between these two. SplatSpace's lack of specialization is somewhat
frustrating, because there's no guarantee that somebody knows how to help you with something in particular. On the other hand, TriPython seems more
uptight than I'd like as a non-professional. I'm definitely open to attending meetup groups in the future, but I will need a greater deal of
knowledge in a particular coding subfield before I'm confident enough to shoot the shit with fellow programmers.

Here are the links to my three meetup writeups:
