My last merge rewrote the new-style tests in a way that will allow them to be run and rerun individually.
This PR fixes the original set of tests with a small rewrite that makes it easier to regenerate the pickle files when we expect something to change (by rerunning the .py file itself from the syotools root directory:
python tests/test_telescopy.py
