Welcome to the repository for a special seminar session: Sindi on SINDy (yes, that’s me, Suzanne Sindi, exploring SINDy!).
This repository will continue to be updated with future seminar materials, but currently it contains everything for this single seminar focused on Sparse Identification of Nonlinear Dynamical Systems (SINDy).
- Original Manuscript: The paper "Discovering governing equations from data: Sparse identification of nonlinear dynamical systems" by Brunton et al.
- Modified Jupyter Notebook:
3_original_paper_modified.ipynb— my version of the notebook, updated to work with Python libraries and to load the data directly. - Presentation: My seminar slides illustrating key points from the paper.

The presentation slides included in this repository are taken directly from Assistant Professor Erica Rutter - my wonderful colleague in UC Merced's Applied Mathematics Department.
My contributions to this repository are primarily in making the materials more accessible for JupyterHub use:
- Consolidating the materials into a single, organized repository
- Creating a modified version of the original notebook (
3_original_paper_modified.ipynb) that runs cleanly on UC Merced's JupyterHub - Adding my personal teaching touches — a bit of “Sindi-ness”
- This repository is intended for educational purposes.
- All data needed for the notebook is included in the repository.
